I. Prelude
II. Foxtrot
III. Waltz
IV. Tango
V. "Aforementioned Twirling"
The Suite for Trumpet and Harp, composed for trumpeter
Olivia Gilmore, is a modern dance suite, so rather than a courante, sarabande, gigue, etc., it has a foxtrot, waltz, and tango. A graceful prelude sets the suite off, followed by a lightly jazzy Foxtrot, a bleak Waltz, and an energetic Tango. The last movement, “Aforementioned Twirling,” takes its title from a phrase spoken by Elend Venture in the first book of the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, and ties all the previous movements together.
